Grading

Your grade will be determined on the basis of the following work:

1. Midterm: 20%

2. Final Exam: 30%

3. Reading/Modeling Assignments: 50%

Homeworks

• Homework assignments will be handed out on Thursdays, and will be due the following Thursday, unless noted otherwise on the course web site. 
• All homeworks must be turned in via email, to cogsci207-staff@cs.northwestern.edu.  No hardcopy or messages to other addresses will be accepted.  ASCII text or HTML preferred.  When diagrams or other media are needed (rarely!), please send Microsoft Word files or Adobe Acrobat files, or files in the specialized format required by the assignment.
• Homeworks are due by 12 noon on the day they are due.  (We count this by the time sent, not by arrival time.)
• Late homeworks will be significantly downgraded, depending on degree of lateness.
• Although you may consult with your colleagues concerning homework assignments, it is expected that what you turn in will be your own individual original work.  Violations of this rule will result in actions ranging from a zero on the assignment to failing the course to being handed over to the appropriate Dean for whatever disciplinary action that they see fit.

Examinations

• The Midterm will be October 21st, in class. 
• The Final Exam will be December 10th , 12-2pm.
• The exams will be closed book, closed notes.  No computers or calculators or devices with keyboards or communications devices allowed.
